New Pad Report

Habemus apartments!!!!!

Very happy to have found a very cool pad  in midtown Toronto. It isn't glamorous, but it is quite awesome. The right balance between location, comfort and price. 

We've been busy getting it cleaned up and furnished. This last step is a slow one. I've been hunting for specific types of furnishings, scoping out garage sales and Kijijii.ca for deals. When unsuccessful I've gone to pick up a couple of items at the furniture store that sells meatballs.

The rooms are taking shape, and so far things have gone relatively smoothly thanks to help from great friends. In Fact Rob and Andrea have helped us quite a bit, helping us find stuff and carry it to the new pad. 

Yesterday was our first weekend here and we decided to have a housewarming party  and invite them and a few other friends. We had a great time! We started at 3pm and wrapped up at around 1am. We made a ton of Japanese food: chirashi sushi, teriyaki chicken, ginger pork, bean curry and some other classics like guacamole and chips, cheese and crackers and bacon wrapped asparagus. The guts brought a ton of stuff as well: delicious Portuguese pastries, spirits and wine. Oh yeah, and a brand new microwave oven as a present!!!

We had a real good time and are looking forward to entertain more often once we're settled in better.
